General Information

Q - Where is Maldives? How do I go there?
A - Maldives is situated in the Indian Ocean. Spreading across the equator from North to South. It is an Island Nation lying some 700 km. South West of India. The only  international Airport in Maldives is in Hulhule Island. The airport itself is an island. There are regular scheduled International flights to Maldives from Asia & Europe. These includes Srilankan Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Emirates etc. See the flight schedule.

Q - Do we need Visa to Enter Maldives.?
A
- You need not to take visa in advance. Immigration will issue 30 days visa on arrival. You may even extend your stay more then 30 days.

Q - Why Maldives is popular as a Holiday destination?

- The natural beauty of our islands, the making of resorts stick in to 'one resort one island' policy. The breath taking spectacle of clear blue sky, the sun rise and sun set, the experience of diving in the most unique exotic under water location, the colorful tropical fishes, sandy white beaches, piece and relaxation along with numerous other exhilarating activities that has made Maldives the best place for holiday makers.
Q - What are the activities in Resorts?

- The activities in Maldives resorts include diving, Cruising, Excursions, island hoping, snorkeling and may other in-house activities. Please see the Activities page for some activities in detail.

Q - How do I select a resort to suit my holiday plan?
A
- Asa Travel has selected the best 24 resorts for our clients, visit our resort page there we  tried to give you as much information about these resorts as possible. You may find a resort to suit you. Otherwise, fill the form in holiday planner page, giving us as much information as possible about your holiday type. We will try to find exactly what you are looking for.

Q - How do I price my vacation?
A
- When you choose a resort / safari, send us a query for reservation or rates request, we will give you the breakdown of rates in detail. Normally this include Airport – Hotel – airport transfers, Accommodation and food.

Q - How do I find the lowest holiday package?
A -
Even though all the resorts share the same natural appearance; the design  and category of the resort makes the price different for each resort. You may consider the following:

  • Fill the form in holiday Planner page indicating your budget, we will find a resort for you.
  • Try to book all-inclusive resorts (which includes drinks / activities) or take advantage of our special offer packages.
  • Bookings between May and October will enjoy price reductions compare to other periods.
Q - How do I pay for my holiday?
A
- Once you have sent us a booking request by filling the information requested in the booking form, we will send you the availability of rooms and break-down of all the charges. On receipt of the acceptance of our rates within 3 days, we will send you a pro-forma invoice. You need to settle this amount either by credit card or telegraphic money transfer. Your reservation will be re-confirmed only after receiving the payment. If the payment is not received 30 days prior to your arrival date, your booking will be cancelled automatically. For reservations made within 30 days of arrival need to settle the payment by credit card immediately. (See the payment policy)

Q - Is there any useful information (shall know before my arrival)?

- Please see the fact sheet in the Holiday Planner page about some useful information, which may be helpful to you.
Q - Do you arrange flight tickets?
A
-We do not arrange flight tickets. Thus, it will be easier and cheaper to contact a travel agent near by for return flight tickets to Maldives. Should you want to know about our services, please refer our Service Page. We are committed to take care of you while in Maldives.

Q - How do I make a reservation?
A
-To make a reservation, select your dream island resort and simply fill the information requested in the reservation form. We will come back to you with the availability and break down of all the charges.

Q - How do I know when my booking is confirmed?
A
-After you accept our rates for the holiday that you have selected, you are advised to settle the payment with in the stipulated period for the pro-forma invoice you receive , As a confirmation we will issue a hotel voucher for the services you have paid for. And a reservation confirmation number will be sent to you. Hotel voucher will be sent to you by mail or fax and the original will be handed over to you on arrival at the Airport.

Q - Can I make a booking in more than one resort?
A
-Yes, you may spend one part of your stay in a resort and the other part in another resort or vessel, like wise you can switch to any number of resorts and safari vessels. However, remember, when making a reservation separate reservation forms must be filled for each resort or vessel.

Q - How can I cancel a reservation if it is confirmed?
A
-Yes you may cancel a reservation any time. But the following charges will be made.
Only a service charge of 10% will be levied on reservations cancelled 30 days before arrival.
Reservations cancelled with in 15 -30 days of arrival we’ll be charging you 50% of full amount.
Reservations cancelled 0 - 15 days of arrival and no-shows, full amount of the transfer and first 7 nights, and 50% of the balance amount will be charged.

After Booking
 

Q - Will there be a language problem during my holiday?
A
- Even though the main language used in Maldives is English, other languages like German, Italian, Japanese, French, Spanish and several other foreign languages are spoken by the staff of these  resorts. So, wherever you are from, you will be treated by the experience personnel representatives and our team to make sure all your needs are fulfilled.

Q - Will there be any body to meet us at the airport?
A
- With in the Airport itself we have a counter where our representatives are there to meet our guests both on arrival and departure.

Q - Will there be any surcharge added to the services we hence paid against your invoice? (Like food & accommodation, transfer etc)
A -
Once you have accepted the price and the booking has been confirmed, that price is fully guaranteed and will not be subjected to any surcharges or unknown charges. The price includes Asa Travels’ service charges, Government taxes, visa fees, handling fees.
